The final piece was turned on my woodwork lathe but the starting blank was setup using Deskproto and Nomad Sculpt. More time doing this than the woodturning! The overall cutting time for the 4 pieces was around 5hrs. 3mm endmill 2mm per pass 1500mm/min 15000rpm vfd spindle. I used an outline toolpath and localised 3d roughing and finishing to cut the joints. Some of joint angles are complex angles and much easier to determine by 3d modelling. Would have been much more difficult to assemble the blank manually.
